Slidell Man Found Guilty as Charged in St. Tammany Parish of Possession of Heroin and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine

District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that on Friday, September 2, 2022, a six-person jury found Eugene Darryl McKnight, age 62, of Slidell, Louisiana guilty of possession of two to twenty-eight grams of heroin and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
On Wednesday, May 28, 2020, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested McKnight on an unrelated case of battery of a dating partner. During the arrest, deputies found a bag containing approximately 1 gram of cocaine on his person and three bags containing approximately 17 grams of cocaine in his vehicle. Deputies also found three bags of heroin in his vehicle weighing approximately 6 grams.
The defendant is a multiple offender with a history of distribution of cocaine convictions and had been released on parole 10 months prior to his arrest. Sentencing is scheduled for September 21, 2022.
The case was presided over by District Judge Reginald Badeaux and presented by Assistant District Attorneys Brandi Dohre and Bryant Clark. Deputies Ian Rogers and John Hrabley of the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office and Jessica Watkins of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Crime Laboratory handled the investigation and testified at the trial.
