District Attorney, Warren Montgomery

THE ST. TAMMANY DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE
HAS BEEN DEFUNDED.

THIS WEBSITE WAS CREATED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH FACTUAL DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT WHY WE ARE PROPOSING A SALES TAX, TO BE USED SOLELY FOR CRIMINAL PROSECUTION AND MANAGED DIRECTLY BY OUR OFFICE WITH OUR BUDGET PROVIDED TO THE PARISH AND PUBLIC FOR REVIEW.

Click above to watch a video of Mr. Montgomery explaining the purpose of the tax which is to continue running an “A+” District Attorney’s Office and to assure that St. Tammany Parish remains a safe place to live.

THE PROPOSED SALES TAX WAS EVALUATED BY THE BUREAU OF GOVERNMENTAL RESEARCH.

AFTER ANALYSIS THEY TOOK THE POSITION TO RECOMMEND FOR THE PROPOSED SALES TAX.

  • WHY DO WE NEED FUNDING?

    - The Parish has cut our budget in half.

    - Our internal funds are down by half.

    - The system is ineffective if a link in the
    criminal justice chain is broken.

BY LAW, PARISH GOVERNMENT MUST FULLY FUND the D.A.'s OFFICE, BUT THEY CANNOT.

MONIES ARE IN SILOS FOR OTHER PROJECTS.

MONIES THAT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE PARISH GENERAL FUND FOR JUSTICE AGENCIES ARE NOT AVAILABLE.

WE NEED ADEQUATE FUNDING TO
MAINTAIN EXPERIENCED STAFF.
