On July 16th at 7am at St. Paul’s School, ADA J. Collin Sims will join other expert speakers to educate the community regarding the challenges facing children and families in the 22nd JDC.  Mr. Sims, along with Judge Blair Edwards, Dean Madeleine Landrieu, Judge Scott Gardner and Executive Director of Hope House CAC Thomas Mitchell will share their frontline perspectives and how the community can make a difference.

Prior to joining the District Attorney’s as Chief of Criminal in January, 2015, Mr. Sims was with the US Attorney’s Office. During his time as a Federal and State Prosecutor, he has specialized in investigating and prosecuting violent gangs, criminal enterprises engaged in organized drug trafficking and money laundering, child exploitation and public corruption. Mr. Sims and Mr. Montgomery’s team of ADAs have convicted and continue to prosecute defendants who victimize the young.  When those defendants are the victims’ parents, the prosecutor has many factors to weigh and unforeseen consequences that can occur.  Mr. Sims will be taking the audience through that thought process and the options that are available to him to protect the best interests of the children.
