Civil & Public Records Requests
Civil
The Civil Division is a unit of the District Attorney’s Office that handles non-criminal civil matters and civil litigation on behalf of Washington and St. Tammany Parishes. The Civil Division provides legal services and advises the respective Parish Presidents, the Parish Councils, and Parish offices, agencies, departments, and certain state-authorized boards and commissions domiciled in St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. Additionally, the Civil Division defends civil claims which might be brought against the District Attorney or members of his staff. The Civil Division of the DA’s Office does not handle private civil matters for individuals in our Parishes.
Legal advice and representation for private civil matters would need to be provided by an individual private attorney or law firm.
