Today, we did the big reveal! We welcomed some of our community partners in St. Tammany to tour two rooms that have been transformed into comfortable spaces for crime victims who visit our Covington office to meet with prosecutors or wait during court proceedings. Our office’s plans to redo the rooms and unveil them in April during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week were delayed by the pandemic. As part of the “open house,” District Attorney Warren Montgomery presented a Citizenship Award to Designer Stephanie Lloyd, who voluntarily decorated the rooms and created two pieces of original artwork on display on the walls. Also joining us in individual or small groups throughout the morning were: Julie Agan of the Council On Aging St. Tammany (COAST); Thomas Mitchell and Jessica Fuselier of the Children’s Advocacy Center/Hope House; Kim Kirby of Safe Harbor; and Paul Charles of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. District Judge Dawn Amacker also attended.
